Lakers Leave Of Absence
The lakers will be taking a years leave of absence in 2008-09 while keeping an eye on the new MLH AAA league. The G.M /President of the Lakers, Curtis Trimble, has been retained by the Norwood Vipers on a player personel level to assist in operations for the 2008-09 season. You can visit the webpage here Norwood Vipers Home Page There will be some Lakers players that will be at the Vipers camp in the fall. Any Lakers fans should get there seasons tickets in Norwood if they want to see some exiting hockey. Norwood will be the closest Centre to provide this calibre of hockey this year. "To all the Lakers fans and my personal supporters, I want to thank you for giving me and Marmora a chance to operate a team belonging to the OHA branch. The timing was not in our favour and we really didn't have the behind the scenes finacial support that every other competitive team had. I want to thank my staff, Trainer/Equipment personel Ron Ellis, Asst manager John Croskery, Time keeper Tim Forbes, scorekeeper and game day insert Hogan Courier, Music man Cole Lynch, you guys were at every game and did an awesome job. To my front box office staff, Glen Foster,Cecil Bowler, Judy Aylsworth, Crystal Ellis, Nikki Clemens, thank you for stepping up and doing the best job in the rink. To the Arena,(ice staff) John, Mike, T.J.,Dylan, Ryan, (canteen) Carli, Eden, Rachael,Cheyenne,(bar maids) Lori , Denise thank you for giving top notch service to the Lakers patrons. Last but not least to my Head Coach Shawn Antoski. This guy came on board and did a job that if it was anybody else would have run away from me and Marmora . Shawn stayed the course and is a very loyal and dedicated hockey person. There were times we both had our heads in our hands and when we looked at each other, didn't have the words to say the right thing so opted to say nothing. I also will extend my thanks to Shawns family. There was lots of hours Shawn put into the Lakers and I know they missed his home time, (especially because i know how much Shawn likes plowing snow), thanks again Shawn, i enjoyed the 2 years of talking and learning from a real hockey hero that knows what it takes to make it work in the trenches.
